Connect a Slack workspace to an Atonom Cloud Employee. Create the Slack app from the manifest below, then paste the bot token into the Cloud Employee’s external chat channel. Microsoft Teams and Google Chat are not covered here.

Create the Slack bot

  1. Open Your Apps on the Slack API site.
  2. Click Create New App.
  3. Select From a manifest.
  4. Open the JSON editor. Paste the manifest. Change both CHANGE THIS NAME values to the bot name you want. For an Enterprise Grid app, set org_deploy_enabled to true. Leave the event request URL as it is in the manifest.
  5. Choose the workspace where you want to install the app.
  6. Click through the remaining Slack prompts and install the app to the workspace.
  7. Open the new app’s settings. Go to App Home. Under Show Tabs, turn on Messages Tab. Check Allow users to send Slash commands and messages from the messages tab.
  8. Go to OAuth & Permissions. Under OAuth Tokens, copy the Bot User OAuth Token. You need this token for the next section.
The bot token is created when the app is installed. If OAuth Tokens is empty, install the app to the workspace from the Slack app settings, then copy the token.

  1. In Atonom, open the Cloud Employee channel settings.
  2. Open the external chat channel.
  3. Paste the Bot User OAuth Token from the Slack app dashboard and save.
If the token is for an Enterprise Grid app (org_deploy_enabled is true), pick the workspace you want to enable in that same channel settings page and save again.

Replace both CHANGE THIS NAME values before you create the app. Set org_deploy_enabled to true only for an Enterprise Grid app.
